Enjoying time off

Paging Eduardo.......... Hello???? Ed, are you there?
Yep I'm back to blogging after a little time away from the computer. So, What have I been doing?

Christmas was great, Anisley had a blast with all the paper and new gifts. I have to give to credit to everyone that purchased a gift for her as there were no "junk" gifts. Clothing and educational gifts all around. I also have gotten in few gravel runs of over 6 miles, good stuff.

Right now I'm off work till next Tuesday, hell ya! I'm fighting a bit of a sore throat right now but nothing too big. Dad and I will start to move the shop tomorrow. I'll be super happy when that's done. Looking at sending out some sponsorship requests. There are a couple companies that I could partner with for both MTB and Triathlon racing. I'm going to give it my best shot and see what happens.

That's all for now, going to bed early. Hopefully I feel a bit better tomorrow.

Slacking

My posting has been less that spank-tack-u-lar the past 2 weeks. It's winter yo! Not much exciting going on.
I can say that I have fallen off the wagon. My diet lately is terrible! I am hungry from all the workouts and people keep shoving all thses treats at me, it's rude to turn them down right??? Ahhhh, will-power Jeff, will-power. Cliff bars not pumpkin bars...... but pumpkin is a vegie???????.......I don't know, Ahhhhh!

I'm still feeling sore from that little run Chadly and I did Sunday. Stomping through 12 inches of snow for over a mile tends to do that. This week wraps up my "prep" phase of training. Base starts on Monday, yea!!!! something a little different. Before base phase I have to do a lactate threashold test..... No, I'm not seeing how much milk I can drink. Although I've heard you cannot drink a gallon in 1 hour without barfing (another college story). I will be doing a TT on the bike until I darn near pass-out, sweet!! Headline reads, "Winter cyclist found passed out in pool of his own sufferage" eeeeewwwwww. I have to do the same for running also, but not in my basement.
I hope to get a lot of things done next week, I only work on Tuesday. Finally some time off work and more time with the family!!
Get outside this week freaks, temp are pushing above 20 degrees!

Sub Zero Running

Headed out this morning with Chad at 7:00 for a run. The Explorer was reading a hot -1 degrees on the way to the park. I bundled up with layers of Duofold thermal gear and I kept toasty warm. Both of us had frost on the outside of our clothes by the end of the run, it was pretty funny. I had not seen Chad in over a year so it was good to run and chat. Ran for just short of an hour around Grand blvd., Hartman, Rainbow, and of course the Euro Crit. Saw a few deer, they really stand out in the snow. Also saw a good blood trail where a deer had been shot.
Hit one section of deep snow that I'll be feeling it tomorrow morning.

Not much else going on today. Try to say warm!

Christmas is coming

Holy crap, only 10 days till Christmas! Maybe I should start to buy some gifts! Speakin of gifts, what does everyone have on their list this year??? Clothes, lights, a new bike, wheels, wetsuit??
Sound off!!! What do you want in your stocking?!?

Training is going well but I'm having a hard time fiting it in, but I'm geting it in. I heard a good quote last night. "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail". So, I must "prepare" for 2006.

Lifted weights and ran last night..... Weird but I've been enjoying running in sub freezing temps.
The question of, "will I hit some ice and fall on my ars" helps to keep the strides short and turnover high. Lifting all these weights makes me hungry allllll day long too. I feel like I'm turning into Arnold.

Back at it

Back to training after a full week off. Last nights workout went really well. It was a great night for a run so I extended my time. Gotta take advantage where you can cause tonight looks like lots more of the white stuff. Discovered last night I am way low on this:
I better get to Europa Cycle and Ski to get some more!
Nothing more to say, work has taken over the rest of my life and nobody wants to hear about that. Off to help Katie with some X mas stuff and then get a run in before the snow hits!

Off Week

This week has been a little on the crazy side. Last weekend was the flu, on Tuesday I lost my voice and could hardly talk for 2.5 days. Figuring my body needs the rest I have not trained at all this week. Figure 1 week off now instead of every other week off for the next 3 months.
So here come some random thoughts for the last week.

WE HAVE WAY TOOOOO MUCH SNOW!

Why do dogs still put their head out the window of a moving truck when it's -10 degress out?

I like my snow-blower, a lot!

I hate working 11 and 12 hour days!

Is 30 degrees really a heat wave?

Best pedals for the snow:
A - Clipless
B - Platform
C - Toe Straps

Who's riding outside this weekend?

4 wheel drive does not help you to stop! Only helps you go!

Will Europa carry Redlines bikes in 2006?????

There is a really big hill behind our building here. Good for sledding in winter, climbing training in the summer.

I've been consuming a large amount of soup lately, it's yummy. Garden Veggie is my fav.

That's all, next week should be better.

Major Development

Redline has confirmed they are producing a 29er that will be released in March of 2006. Price is $450, yea I'll be racing one of these next season. That price is way low to get a complete 29er. You could even get two and for less than a grand get started in endurance racing. I'm pumped, wonder if I could pre-order???

Flu

I contracted a strain of the stomach flu Saturday night. I did nothing yesterday, I feel better today, but not 100%. I'm disappointed cause my training was right on schedule and going really well. Good thing it's early in the program. I think I'll also take today off training and do Tuesday's and Wednesday's workout at half speed. Hopefully I'm recovered by then and can get back into the swing of things.

Saturday,Saturday.....Saaaaturday

What???? It's just Elton John. Few more inches of the white stuff last night and more to come today(frown). I have my workout in for the day, 1hr on the treadmill with a rolling hills simulation. Just ate a egg white and cheese breakfast burrito and I'm working on my first cup of hazelnut joe. Ummmmmm. Afternoon plans are to go to Cedar Rapids and see my best buddy Neal. His wife gave birth to two beautiful girls last week and we have not seen the babies yet. For those of you that know Neal, yes he is a father. Dear God!
I received payment for the Trek last night so let the shopping begin!!!!! All input is welcome, yes I'm riding a single speed for 12 hour events next year. Here are the rides I'm looking at, keep in mind I'm trying to get the frame for $400 or less.
Kona Unit or Explosif
Surly 1x1 or karate monkey
Soul Cycles Houlligan
Redline Mono-cog (full bike in steal is $400, Al flight is $550. Big plus is 2006 models are 135mm rear spacing, not the old 110)

Ok, that's all for now....Damn, just looked out the window and snow is falling again. Have a good weekend.

SOLD!!

Sweet, my bike has sold on Ebay! Now the question is will I get paid?? This auction was a weird one. I had a lot of strange questions, and all the bidders had zero feedback . Hummmm. I guess I'll just have to see if the $$ shows up.
If it shows up should I buy 2 single speed frames and build them up? Or, buy one complete bike and have a beater SS for a back up? I really think I should have 2 bikes for 12 hour events.
